i got myself a freeview digital reciever 2 days ago, my prob seems to be i can be watching it then all of a suddent the screen will start to pixiate and then just turn into a blur of pixels, similar to a computer screen crash. i just wondered if anybody had any experience of digital receiver boxes, this problem or any intelligent suggestions on what i should do? i bought it on ebay and foolishly i left the guy positive feedback before i had been watching it for more than an hour.

I have one myself and the pixelation isn't too bad even with an indoor ariel. Some channels do suffer if I move about too much but if I just sit still its normally fine. Do you get the little red box or circle ? This indicates bad reception I think.
Buddha says that, while he may show you the way, only you can truly save yourself, proving once and for all that he's a lazy, fat bastard. -
no i dont get a little red box, thing is, when mine starts to get a bit pixilated, it wont stop until the whole screen goes and i have to turn it off and on again. i might try one of those small indoor ariels, they sell them in wilkinsons for £4.99 and they pick up all digital stations it says. my ariel in the loft should be alright though cos this flat that i live in was only built 3 years ago, so its not an old ariel. mind you, having said that they could have just bunged in any crappy ariel.

i got a pace receiver dv3 i think it is. it isnt anything fancy. i will check that site out cheers for the link.

turned out my aerial was only giving me 32% reception (the pace box tells you that in the menu) so i have now just bought a wideband aerial and will see how much difference that makes. i think it should be good cos i am not far from crystal palace, where them massive aeriel towers are.

yeah, when we wanted to switch to freeview we had a fantastic analogue picture but NO digital reception at all. nothing. simply took down the normal aerial and replaced with a wideband aerial set up in exactly the same way and now get 68% signal and 100% quality. that's on a humax tuner which is one of the more sensitive ones.

is that an aeriel in the loft on an outside aeriel? i am keeping my aeiriel in the loft, hopefully if it works. if it doesnt then id have to see about fixing it to an outside wall, no way would i get up on my roof, not for love nor money!

up on the roof but someone else did it! luckily we had scaffold up at the time - chimney needed repairing, so he got lumbered with doing the aerial too. no-one else in the house fancied it up there though so i quite understand!
If you rent the flat it's worth speaking to your landlord.
