    Hey all,

I have burned DVD movies to Memorex DVD+Rs, and they work flawlessly in my JVC DVD-Player at home. But for some reason they wont play in ANY DVD-ROM drive! It just says that the drive is empty when i try to access the drive!

why wont my dvd-rom (which is an LG CDRW/DVD-ROM) or my Dell Latitude dvd-rom read the disks? They will read store made dvd-movies... but not ones that i burn to a DVD+R.

    any ideas?

EDIT: my dvd-roms will only play DVDs with menus on them. Is there any way to get them to play DVDs that are just straight movies with NO menus? My DVD-player plays everything.

  2. What are you using to transcode? What are you using to burn?

these are the steps i have tried:

    rip: dvd decrypter
    encode: tmpeg enc
author: tmpeg dvd author (no menu)
    burn: nero 6.3
status: works in dvd-player, not in dvd-roms

    rip: dvd decrypter
    encode: tmpeg enc
author: tmpeg dvd author (menu made)
    burn :nero 6.3
    status: works everywhere

    rip: dvd decrypter
    encode: dvdshrink 3.15 and 3.16
method: full back up (includes menus)
    burn: nero 6.3
    status: works everywhere

    rip: dvd decrypter
    encode: dvdshrink 3.15 and 3.16
    method: re-encode (just movie clip)
    burn: nero 6.3
status: plays in dvd-player, not in any dvd-rom.

  4. you posted on another thread with the same problem. if you tried what i mentioned (> 4.0G filesize) and that does not work i think the problem is unique to your setup. i use the same media and have no issues with playing back reauthored movie-only dvdrs from DVD Shrink's (v3.0b5 and 3.16) output burned with CopyToDVD or Nero 5.5.10.42. good luck.
