    i have a strange problem .
i downloade 2 movies last day and both of them are flickering.
its strange because them both downloaded from different source and the both acting the same.
i tried to watch them with media player and also with powerdvd and same thing with them both. the movies are from avi type, regarding to other avi movies i already have on my h.d there is no problem.

what could it be ? i think the problem is in my system but i dont know where also i dont think its have anything to do to the codec or maybe im wrong.

    p.s
two days ago i installed cce and avi2svcd and unistalled them i unistalled avisync with them, maybe i uninstalled something that effect on avi's ? but then again as i said there is no problem with my old avi's files.

    please help...

use gspot to identify the codec used in the avi as first step, then go from there.

ok i installed gspot but im not realy sure what result to wrtie here so here it goes :
the codec is xvid and its also write that 2 compatible codecs installed :
Xvid Mpeg-4 codec & Xvid Mpeg-4 video decoder.
this is at the video .

    at the audio :
    Pcm audio
and at stat : No codec required

at the second avi files same thing at the video and at the audio :
    0x0055(MP#)ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
stat : 2 compatibe codec installed --> Fraunhofer IISMPEG Layer-3 Codec (professional) and MPEG Layer-3 Decoder.

    thats it ?

  4. Hi,

The avi's are most likely encoded with the new version of the Xvid codec.
I used to play all Xvid/Divx with FFDshow filter, but got the same "flickering" effect with a couple of recent avi's (in PowerDVD too).
What worked for me was to install the new Xvid codec and play the avi's with the Xvidcodec instead of FFDshow.

The new version of FFDshow (mentioned in the tools section) will play the "new" Xvids without the flickering (tested on another pc).

    New Xvid codec : http://www.roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml

    Hope this helps
