Has anyone using Ritek ever made a DVD that will play in someo DVD players but not all? I have this issue, but I am currently using up some Memorex media I bough (CMC's). Since I hear so many good things about Ritek, I was thinking of ordering some online. I was thinking this may fix my problems of some DVD players not liking my movies.

  3. hrmanju1,

Lots of DVDs does not play on Sony. I have a Sony myself. It did frustrate me until I bought some chinese-made DVD players. Just go out and buy some cheap Chinese-made DVD player like JWIN ($39) or Apex. I'm pretty sure they will play your Ritek. I just bought a dirt cheap JWIN 120 for $39 (it even have a $10 rebate and so it would be $29 + tax), and it plays everything (-R +R Vcd SVCD MP3). I tried 6 different -R brand and 4 different +R brand, and they all play.

Don't return your 100-pack. For a Ritek and at $40, you got had a very good deal. Really.

    Cheers

My mom's Sony won't play anything I make unless I put it on a RW. My friend's Pioneer won't play anything unless it's a direct DVD-->DVD backup using something like DVDxCopy to make it. These two quality brand names (Pioneer & Sony) seem to be a little more fussy.

My dad's sony has been no problem at all, just my mom's sony. Now, I haven't tried my mom's sony since I started using DVD-Lab. I was using TDA strictly. I may get better results. Who knows. Of all the things that can go wrong, people tend to blame the media first, which is why I started this post. I can assume I'm not doing anything wrong since my DVDs are working in most players.

  10. I tried to burn the Ritek R02 as DVD-ROM and tried to play it on my old SONY DVD player and it failed. Took it over to my friends place and it worked like a charm. I sold 50 of the Ritek to him and i am still left with 50 more and i am debating to buy new DVD player or sell these. Any

RITEKG01 and RITEKG02 was trash. If you just got this, it was collecting dust for a few years in a warehouse.

Is there a difference between the Ritek G03 and G04 media? Is G04 the top of the line right now from Ritek?

  13. You might want to think about a plus burner with bitsetting capabilities next time.

Talking about bit setting. I just found out last night that my burner come with Bit Setting. It is a BenQ 400 DVD+R. I just down load Book type and have not try to set to dvd-rom yet. Should I set both Drive Checking and Media Checking to DVD-ROM. Please advise. What is the results, is it better compatibility? All my previous burnt using DVD+R default setting.

    Thanks

    GO3 is 2x media
    GO4 is 4x Media

i would imagine there is very little difference other than the above, although i guess in theory the 4x is of higher quality as it has to burn faster.

having said that, with my 8x Pioneer (hacked firmware) i can burn my GO3 at 6x no probs (8x i get errors) and my GO4 will burn at 8x with no probs!!!
1)Why Not Overclock a little?! speed 4 free!!!!
    2) If your question has anything to do with copying PS2/PC/XBox games, find a more appropriate website

Yes its better compatibility. You should set the media type to DVD-ROM. You only have to set it once. It stays set even after a reboot or firmware flash. If you want to turn it off you use the utility again. I don't think you will ever want it turned off though.
