cannot convert downloaded file in xvid4psp

I am a total non-technical person at all. I apologize in advance for not being able to always 'translate' what I need to know.

I downloaded tv show videos from bittorrent but when I open them in xvid4psp application, it cannot convert it to MP4 PSP format. I always get an error "Sorry. Can't find encoded video for file xxx.avi!" I accepted all the default settings except for changing the output to MP4 PSP or MP4.

Are there particular settings I need to use? Is there something else I am supposed to do to the file b/4 I can convert it? Is there another conversion software I can/should use?

Try other all-in-one converters like WinFF, Format Factory, SUPER, etc.

And if they don't work then PLEASE post the full details from the video file. Use for example mediainfo, open video and change to view->text and copy and paste the information.

And I hope you are not downloading any copyrighted material.

Thank you all for your prompt replies. I pursued other applications as suggested and also continued to 'fuss' with xvid4psp and also the Sony MediaGo. From searching on the forum, I used the suggestion to use gspot to check the file and it said it was good. So I found that I could use MediaGo to re-scan the file to make it a valid video file for the psp. I have verified that I can view it on the psp.
