  1. I have downloaded just about every program immaginable and nothing will open the vcd's i just bought. I don't have a dvd player on my computer. I have the latest of WMP (7.1) and DiVX, and Quick VCD, but none of them recognize the .DAT file. I try to associate it with WMP when promopted but it still says it doesn't recognize the file type. Please help!

  2. MWP should be able to play it by File->Open->Files of type: All Types (*.*) and click on the .dat file. If WMP refuses to open it, then the cds are trashed. There is a VCD player that i have that might also work in a stretch (bsplay)...btw, DON'T associate .dat with WMP, as other programs use that extention for other purposes (ex. Norton AntiVirus).

  3. you could also try downloading a copy of a DVD player application, and open this in file mode, this works as well.
