I'm thinking of getting either the Avermedia AverTV Studio or Leadtek Winfast TV2000 XP Deluxe, if I can find one cheap on ebay, mostly for the TV tuner but I'll likely use it to record occasionally. I searched and read all the capture card comments but can't decide between these two. They both seem to be able to use the btwincap drivers but anyone know exactly which chipset is on these cards? Any opinions on which is better, pros and cons of either, or are they pretty much the same.

  2. can't speak to the Avermedia products, but do have a winfast sp deluxe card.
Would only reccomend it for tv viewing and recording shows to HD for later playback/vieiwing/etc.. but not for capturing with intent to burn dvd's.

I have the Leadtek deluxe card and I'm happy with it. I capture Hi-8, burn to DVD, view on a 51" TV and it looks great. If you know what you're doing you can get good captures with this card.

I own both, prefer the Leadtek (not using Aver). Easier install (didn't use drivers on CD) slightly better capture and better software included. Being a newbie can't give much more of an opinion. I had an interesting experience installing a second Aver card (bought before I got the Leadtek) on my son's PC which required a registry change for "data invalid" problem that has been discussed on this forum before.
