  1. I bought 2 80mm coolermaster fans. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-999-051&depa=1

The screws are thick and the holes in the fans don't have any spiral shaped grooves for the fans. Am I supposed to manually drill in the screws to create the grooves, or am I missing something?

Nope. Screw fans are self-tapping !! Just screw them in.

  3. I tried, but the screws are the same width as the holes, and because of the grooves in screw, I can't push it in..

it's kind of hard to explain thru typing

    lol, paperclip

The screws will require a little force and will create their own grooves as you screw them in and apply pressure. They have to be screw/pushed in and cannot be just pushed into place. They will not go in by themselves by merely turning them like tapped machine or case screws.

They do not go all the way through the fan (i.e. through the front and rear holes). The merely are long enough to either mount though the case and to the fan or to mount fanguards.

Yeah -- hard to picture with words.

That's what I meant by manually screwing it in - creating the grooves.

So then they will be sticking out of the rear of the case (or wherever i put them) ??

  6. You screw them in from the outside of the case and into the fan to mount the fan to the case. So - yes, the screw heads will be on the outside of the case and the threaded part of the screw will go into the fan.

  8. If you still have issues, compare your screws to the pic I posted in the above thread. Those are the type that I am referring to and are "standard" fan screws.

If yours look radically diffreent, then it may be a different ballgame.
