HI ive been trying to burn authored DVD's in nero 5.5.10.54, the burn process goes fine but always fails on 99% with NEC_ND1300a : Could not perform end of disc at once. I know its not a media issue as ic7 works fine and the indication is towards a hardware/nero issue. Ive never encountere this problem when burnig CDR and CDRW or DVD_ROM data dsics only dvd video. Whats up (the same problem occurs whether its simulation or burn).

elmotheteapot,
I'm running WinXP Pro, IC8 and Nero 551054 also and have EXACTLY the same problem with my 2 Pioneer burners (A05 & 106) for the past week or so. Short of reformatting the HDD and reinstalling everything, nothing has worked so far. I finally uninstalled Nero last nite and dl'd trial version of CopytoDVD (think that's what it's called??) burning application and it worked fine.
Here's my recent quest for an answer--didn't work for me but it's worth a try: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=194066&highlight=
Also, curious, between your last successful burn with Nero 551054 and your first failed burn, do you remember what you did, i.e., install new software or anything out of the ordinary, that would conflict with Nero and cause it to become 'non-compliant' with system??? I ask b/c my problems started when I opened two separate sessions of Nero and tried burning simultaneously to my 2 burners.. thanks. -
I have never been able to produce a DVD Video on Nero without this error, tried with Pinnacle Instant Disc and it worked fine. Im trying a nero reinstall, fresh install of 5.5.10.50 w/ only 5.5.10.54 update patch.

I know this might be a dumb question but are you trying to burn a dvd with the cd part of nero?
the header on your Picture says Write CD. -
I think that Writing CD is just a generic statment. Look at the write speed, 2X writing for a CD is not done at 2760 kbits a second.
I don't think the problem is specific to Nero and video. I just burned a DVD with 14 vidoes using Nero and it worked fine. Have you tried burning data after this problem to see if it is still truely burning data DVD's? -
Data DVD' do work fine afte rthe problem, just burned some VCd's and xvcds last night and they worked fine, ive now done a fresh nero install (unistalled and deleated all reigstry values nd files of nero before reinstalling) of 5.5 with just 5.5.0.54 patch on top, ive got an encoding job on the go and will be burning later (once ive used TMPGEnc DVD author to creates the vobs bups and ifo files). Ill update this evening

usually when i have problems like thAT, its because the aspi layer was messed up, try force aspi
-
ricky -- I've tried dl'g ForceASPI but it still didn't work.. I think maybe I'm installing ASPI layers and ForceASPI incorrectly.. Usually, a DOS screen comes up after opening up .exe file and it says 'hit any key to continue' and so I do.. Is that all there is to it??
Also, how do you "work" the registry process, i.e., clearing out all Nero registries and do fresh install? Is there a 'guide' or link? Thank you. -
elmotheteapot,
I had the same error like you describe using Nero 5.5.10.20 & 5.5.10.42, but here's something weird I noticed:
- for me the error only happened when I burn as DVD-Video using Fuji DVD-R (which is Ritek-G03) and also Fuji DVD+R.
- but if I used Ritek-G03 labeled brand, it does not happened
- now if I used DVDDecrypter to burn DVDCrecrypter's produced ISO image to the Fuji DVD-R. The process finished fine.
- I also try other Ritek-made-for-brandname such as Maxell, it does not happen.
I have a Sony DW-U10a (i.e. OEM for DRU-500), and so I don't know because:
1. The particular firmware which is incompatible with that particular batch of the Fuji? It happened that both batches of Fuji DVD-R & Fuji DVD+R I bought at my local BestBuy.
2. or because Nero itself?
It's kind of puzzle, because it was OK with other DVD-R or DVD+R brands I have tried, such as Princo, BMI, Philips, etc. when using the 2 versions of Nero mentioned (i.e. 5.5.10.20 & 5.5.10.42).
Another weird thing is that even Nero gave me that error on the Fuji DVDs, my standalone player still play them. To tell you the truth, I only do spot check (i.e. using next chapter button), and only watch the ending to see if the Fuji DVD freeze or not, but it does not. If I have time I could watch the entire movie + all the extra stuff (i.e. trailers, behind-the-scene, etc.) to find out where it could fail, but I don't have time for it.
So with the 40+ Fuji DVD-R I have left on my spindle, I only backup the commercial DVD-5s of which I can use DVDDecrypter. For the DVD-9s that I have to use DVDShrink (or other apps) generating VOBs that required to burn as DVD-Video, I use other DVD brands.
Anyway, just to share my experiences.
Cheers, -
go to nero.com and download their CleanTool. it will get rid of everything nero. then i would recommend that you try to uninstall pinnacle also. get rid of any other burning programs that may have came with your computer. then just install nero, so that nero is the only burning program on your computer. i would also recomend that you go to nero.com and get a version of nero 6 to try.

My comp is self built so I choose the software, btw im using Datasafe Media Braded 2x Ritek GO3 and have had only probs in nero no other app (DVDDecrypter or PInnacle Ic7 or Pinnacle Instant Disc). I have some HP DVD+RW (Ricoh made) 2.4x which i have not yet tested, if they failed i will try running my video through dvddecrypter to produce and iso image and then burn that , if it fails i may have to give up on nero for dvd video.

Like sitlet stated: "go to nero.com and download their CleanTool. It is in the side bar on the right. Actually, get all the tools. The Drivers tool will get rid of EZ CD Creamator leftovers also.
Interesting note at the ASPI page.
NOTE:
A link-up to the WNASPI is only permitted if your homepage expressly refers to Ahead Software AG as producer.
Furthermore the enduser has to be advised that the WNASPI may only be copied in the applications folder, but not in the system folder.
Moreover, you have to emphasize that the enduser is not allowed to incorporate the WNASPI in his own installer.
Finally, the WNASPI may not be be used for other software burning programs.
