  1. I bought a shiny new DVD unit. the box said DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-Video, Mp3, Jpg, VCD, SVCD.

So I burn a DVD-R full of mp3's, gleefully ready to play them.

No workee. This annoyed me very much. I sugest anybody in this predicament email their dvd player's tech support and demand a fix. You may use a copy of the email I sent to mine.
I have not included the brand of my DVD unit in a public post, until such time as I get a response from them. If they provide a firmware upgrade, i will be pleased.

The manual says plays DVD-R, DVD-RW, MP3.... and other things. So I bought it. It will not play mp3's off DVD-R media. This is a very important feature, and the main reason I bought this player to replace my cheap old featureless player. Is there a firmware upgrade to fix this? If not I would like to exchange this model for one that will play mp3's on DVD-R media. The store I bought it from won't exchange (because technically it isn't faulty) it so it will have to be straight to you.
    Thank you,

  3. Ordinary ISO data DVD. The media I use I burn movies onto without issues.
(Ritek G03 as reported by dvd decryptor)

There is no such thing as an "mp3-DVD" that i have ever heard of at least.....

    DVD-MP3
This type of disc is created when MP3 audio files are burned on a DVDR/W disc. Very few MP3 capable standalone DVD players supports DVD-MP3 because most players verify DVDR/W as DVD-Video only

  5. umm, "DVD-MP3" is just a convenient designation for use on this website to denote DVD players with the capability duhmez is wanting. there is actually *NO* difference in burning, it *IS* just a bunch of mp3's on a DVD-ROM data disk. and yes duhmez, it is quite incredible that a *DVD* player will play mp3's on a CD-ROM and not a DVD-ROM

a lot of the cheaper players (APEX) will do this, but few of the *name* players - sony, panasonic, etc.
