Greetings all! I need some opinions/options on a project I have been handed.

My objective is to have continuous, unattended, playing dvd be viewed on standard quality TVs(rumours of LCD being bought).

Currently, the media used is VHS, playing on a VCR. Rewind, play, change tape, rewind, play, change tape all day long is a pain and most of the time just gets turned off. The tapes average about 30 minutes each, so I can obviously consolidate these.

I plan on outputing my VHS tapes to the Canapus ADVC300(due out this month, TBC built in) and CAPTURE to my hard drive as individual AVIs. I will then consolidate these to a single AVI with a yet to be determined EDITOR. Create my MPEG2 with a yet to be determined ENCODER. AUTHOR, and BURN.

My questions...
1. Any opinion on a EDITOR that will excel in conslidating AVIs with transitions?
2. I won't ask about the ENCODER... TMPGEnc I would assume.
3. How can I get the continuous, unattended, playing media? Would this be in the AUTHORING?
4. More on AUTHORING, I don't feel I will need a main menu or chapters as I will have no interaction from a person, besides the intial power up and play. So is DVD the correct media for what I am doing?
5. Any opinions on Screenblast Movie Studio3? I know it's cheap, but maybe it will work for something as simple as what I am doing?

As the digital media world is very new to me(6 months). All of your opinions, options, suggestions are very appreciated.
