When I fooled around with VCD I found that Ulead Movie Factory 2 worked well for creating some simple menu designs.
I would encode in TMPGEnc then import into MF2 and make sure that it would not re-encode the file (there is an option to make it NOT do that).
It worked well if I made a compliant 29.970fps VCD with TMPGEnc but it never liked when I tried to make 23.976fps VCD with TMPGEnc.
I never fooled around much with SVCD but when I did it was always with movies that usually needed to be spread out over multiple discs. Unlike some of the early VCD discs I made (which had multiple videos on one disc) the SVCD discs I made were not like that and therefore I did not need a menu so I just used NERO to burn them.

what does everyone thinkg of DVD2SVCD for ripping from DVD to SVCD? Just got it set up and will probably try it out tonight.

Not that this has anything to do with the original Q (it's called hijacking!) but:
Never (well, at least not after my first stumbling steps in this area) used any all in one tools, but I'm pretty sure there's nothing you can't do with much greater control and flexibility armed with a ripper, DVD2AVI, Avisynth, TMPGEnc and VCDEasy.

Please stick to topic. Discuss "DVD to" in the DVD to forum.
