Hello! Can someone please help me to figure it out what exact problem.

I'm using TAW4 and now I'm having a problem with and AVI files contain AC3 audio. My input file was AC3 (5.1 Ch) audio but when I load it into TAW4 I only got 2 ch audio (please see the pics).

I'm sure it has something to do with Audio Codec but I can't figure it out how to fix it. I'm really need your help on this problem. Please help me.

    Thanks.

PS: I tested a lot of files with an AC3 audio (MP4, AVI) but I got the same result.

    Does TAW4 do 5.1?
    I don't believe it does.

TAW4 does 5.1 dd but you have to specify it to recode to that before authoring,if the audio is already 5.1 dd it should leave it alone unless there's something wrong with it.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Perhaps because it's using the directshow file reader. There could be a mixer in the chain somewhere
    down-converting to 2 channels.

I'm sure TAW4 does support AC3 Audio input.

davexnet: maybe you are right. Do you have any idea how to fix it?

    Thanks everyone for helping me.

    Good catch.
That may be it. Some system codec/filter is causing this.

Perhaps you have ac3filter installed, or FFDshow audio config/mixer is forcing 2 channel.
Check those and disable them temporarily while you do the encode.
Another method could be to demux the audio from the source file and feed the ac3 file as the audio source direcly.

I'd demux it and import as separate file for the audio track.

  10. I think TAW4 will work with 5.1 but only if there's no re-encoding - license issues I guess. Try what Alex_ander above suggests, but you may end up having to convert the video to Mpeg2 outside of TAW4 and then just use TAW to author the disk.
