  1. Hi fellow Sony DRX510UL/DRU510A users.

    I just the Sony DRX510UL and upon installation, the DVD burning softwares detected the drive as a Sony DRU510A.

    I'm wondering if this is correct?

    Thanks

    I've just installed what's supposed to be a DRU510AK and it's also detecting it as a DRU510A so I'm wondering the same thing.

    I just took my drive out of the PC and it's definitely marked DRU510AK. Should I be updating firmware or something, possibly?

  4. Don't worry about it, the old 500ax is still id'd as a 500a and it works fine so I don't think that is a problem at all.

  6. It is because Sony DRX510UL is external USB2 drive, which is nothing but Sony Internal Driver DRX510A put in the USB enclosure!!!

    It is like this

    Sony DRX500A -> Internal DVD writer
    Sony DRX500A + USB enclosure = Sony DRX500ULX -> External DVD writer
    Sony DRX510A -> Internal DVD writer
    Sony DRX510A + USB enclosure = Sony DRX510UL -> External DVD writer

    It seems a bit slack on Sony's part that their drives don't identify as what they actually are. It's not a big deal, just a little confusing.
