I have recently purchased a Panasonic DMR-E50 the unit plays and records great, but here's my delema!
I've transfered some VHS Home Movies to DVD-RAM discs and aparently
Finalizing does not show up in any menus that i have seen. Am I missing something here because the manual just tells you to filalize the disc to use in other DVD players but doesn't actually tell ya how to do it!
Any Help would be greatly appreciated!![]()

Let me try to explain ,a dvd-r is recordable media that can be used only one time and it requires finalizing to play on a standalone dvd player. On the other hand a dvd ram disc is a format that is erasable and reuseable, but only dvd players that are capable of reading or playing dvd ram discs are the only ones that can playback the ram discs recorded on your recorder. Now there are also the dvd recorders that have a hard drive where you can record to edit, remove stuff from like te DMR-E80H and then you can burn to a dvd-r from the hard drive. And finally what most guys do here (from what I have read in the forums) they have a dvd-rom that reads ram discs they take the disc and use an editing program create a dvd and burn on a dvd-/+r disc so they can play on a dvd player,I hope this helps...

Comp usa 1x dvd-rs have always worked for me and they are always on sale ,I beleive they are princo discs but I never had trouble with them when I use them with my DMR-E80H...

I use Princo white-top 1X DVD-R with my E50. So far it loves them.

I dont use Princos, the data can disappear in a year.
Try some Accus, about $60/100 at meritline.com 1x
or just read the huge media dvd recorder topic on left column -

They record fine initially but die over time.
With time or repeated play back the die loses contrast and becomes unusable (non-readable). 3-6 months they begin to fade.
