I was wondering what format is the best to capture in? AVI, MPEG2, Other?? I'm using a Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO for capturing. I have been capturing a full hockey game in VCD 2.0 format but I am not very impressed with the quality. I'm using IPMGEnc 2.0 to break it into three files (1 for each period). Could I be capturing in a better format, converting to SVCD compliant and still burn to three disks (each period is roughly one hour)???? I would greatly appreciate any help.

OK, I've tried to capture in 3 different types of MPEG2 using ATI's MM7.1. When I try to open the files using the file player, none of them will open. I tried converting these files to SVCD format using Sefys template in TMPGEnc but it will not recognize the file as a valid format. I can capture fine using the instructions on this site for VCD 2.0 capture with the ATI cards. Do I new to set a new profile in MMC Reg. If so, what setting should I use? I also tried using VDub but it will not recognize my card. Can anyone provide some suggestions. Thanks.

i agree. AVI by far. i capture useing MMC7.1. capture AVI useing the Huffyuv codec and use TMPGE to encode. as far as playing back Mpeg2. you need an Mpeg2 codec. what has worked for me is i installed the Elecard Mpeg2 Player. then my video pragrams were able to play Mpeg2 files. i don't know if it will work for you but its worth a try.......

Vlad, just wanted to pass along information, you mention you encoded files using my SxVCD, the resulting file is non-standard, and will only play using software that knows how to handle MPEG2 files correctly, mainly a DVD Player software such as PowerDVD or WinDVD (or anything else), Media Player does not always know how to handle these types of files.
