premiere pro features a redesigned MainConcept MPEG-1, 2 encoder that is part of the program.. It needs to be activated after several uses you need to go online and get a number to put in it to keep using the feature.
For the first 3 times you can also use AC3 encoding, but that goes away after 3 uses..
The MPEG encoder still works very well, but takes a lot longer on all my setups than the similar MAin Concept engine for MPEG in VEGAS...
The premiere pro program has all the setting you need for MPEG rendering for DVD's (MUXED or UNMUXED , etc)
It keeps chapters if you use ENCORE DVD by adobe (companion product) -
AFAIK Premiere's burning utility just puts an auto-playing video onto disc without menus. MovieFactory is your mastering app. Export the project to MPEG2 from Premiere and import into your DVD project in MF. As dcsos said the MPEG encoder is pretty good, though you may notice it to be slower than TMPGEnc. You could also save your Premiere project in DV and then encode with TMPGEnc if you'd feel you have more control over your settings that way. I used the first DVD MF a long time ago and IIRC you just import your MPEG2 stream, mix in your menus, and author the DVD. Isn't it that simple?
