From what I'VE learned on this wonderful board, Ridatas are about as good as Riteks, in other words, they are VERY GOOD QUALITY. I have some -R Ridatas right now that are actually made by Ritek. They're G04's, once again, VERY GOOD QUALITY.

Yes. I know of that sticker you're talking about. The burner I have is the GSA LG 4040B. It's not listed as 1 of those burners who's firmware needs to be updated, even though I STILL installed the new firmware on it, just because having the newer firmware installed usually makes the burner more compatible with more brands of discs, as well as making the burner burn at maximum speed.

  6. Had me a hundred pack G04.....loved them. Went through it like nothing, now I have to get more! I have a Pioneer Ext. A06, love it to death... Also I like that there is no markings on the disks, looks clean!

This applies to A03 and A04 drives (superdrivers on the mac) that had the 2x burning speed issues due to premature media certification which coincided with the release of the drives loaded with an inadequate firmware to handle writing at 2x to any 2x "certified" media.

  9. I just got a spindel from meritline today, free shipping on em. I'm glad to see that they are made by ritek, as that is what I was under the impression I ordered and was surprised to see ridata on em.

If they work as good as riteks then I'm going to be a happy camper as they only cost me a total of $51 or $1.02 each
