I know this sounds pretty simple, but what is the best route after video capture? I have two 10GB captures for a total time of about 2 hours. I have Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7. I am new to it, but understand how to drop clips in to it.

The home movies I had transferred from Super 8mm and are now on the 2 captures are composed of probably 100 or more segments about different subjects over 15 years. I don't want to simply dump these captures in and play them. I want to work with the individual subjects and use transitions between them.

I am not sure how to ask the question, but:

1- Do I just put the 10 gb capture in, do the mark in and mark out for the clip I am interested in, and then do it again and again?

2- Or do I first break up the captures in to manageable clip sizes based on say each subject and save them as separate clips.

    Some guidance please?

    Thanks,
    Steve Maye

PS- I want to keep the original captures as-is as sort of an eletronic archives, so whatever I do to edit or break into clips, I don't want to change these.

  2. YOU need to decide what you want to do!

Without knowing if your clips are good I'd just dump them in and watch until I see something I don't want or want at that point. Less is better!
Try to delvelop a theme with your video such as Birthday's or Holiday's and not just showing everything (boring). Sometimes creating short videos of a subject over the years works well. It's more interesting then the general plot of birthday after holiday after birthday then another holiday. Try to be creative with and make it interesting.

    Just my 2 cents
Good Luck and try several approaches and see if others like it.
