  2. You can use MenuEdit... Registered version recomended, I've used it to "cancel" operabilty of some buttons, altough most of them still are visible (because must are graphic elements on original VOBs)...I'm still trying to know how (if it's possible) can I "erase" the visibility of the button (or "graphic" after canceling button...)... if anyone knows, please share it !

  3. The short answer is no. DVD menus are just another mpeg2 stream (motion or still) with a subpicture to define what each 'area' does. The subpicture areas are normally super imposed on top of the 'buttons'. Those buttons are just part of the MPEG video. You might as well as how can I delete a tree from the menu/video.

HOWEVER, if you don't mind making a new mpeg2 video stream you can edit out the buttons like you would anyother graphic (premiere et.al.). As for chaing what the button does, that info is contained in the IFO files and can be edited in any number of ways.

I'll have to correct you here as I was under that impression too when I first started out.
Open the menu VOB in Vobedit, click on "show buttons" and a few pages down you get to the button commands.

If the menu is static with no audio you can edit the command right there.
However if there is time involved (motion or music) you have these dam commands repeated all through the VOB and itwoud take hours to change all incidents. Thats where MenuEdit comes in - freeware version can delete a buttons function, reg version can CHANGE the command.

Another way of getting around this button problem is to deactivate the video content in the related PGC or VTS ba setting all the commands to "PRE" - That means the post commands become PRE commands and the player jumps to the next thing to be oplayed without even starting to play this.

I do this all the time to remove the function of "making of" "deleted scenes", "trailers" etc. The player just remains in the menu untill you press something with content.
