I have a DVD that was ripped from the European Version of Jungle Book 2 (with SmartRipper). When I open the ripped DVD with DVDEncrypter it shows it to be region-free (i.e. all Regions are enabled: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). When I try playing the DVD with Power DVD it says it is only region 2 and asks me if I want to change the region setting of my DVD drive (which I do not). My standalone Sony DVD player also doesn't allow playback due to region conflict.
How is it possible that one program reports it to be region free while another program/player still recognizes the original region setting? The DVD+R media was purchased in Europe. Is it possible for region information to be embedded in the blank DVD media? Any help is greatly appreciated.

So your are ripping a European dvd and it says it is region free ?, does it say this on the box because I would be very suprised if a company like Disney would ever release a region free dvd.

The original DVD was of course encrypted and only region 2. When copying the DVD to DVDR, Smartripper was used in order to read the DVD content and make it region-free. As a result the ripped copy is unencrypted and region-free (at least according to DVDDecrypter).

why not try using DVDDecrypter and ripping it instead?
this sounds similar to the Simpsons Region problem as you had to rip it keeping the region info and remove it after but I'm not so sure if it will be the same issue
