mpeg 1 won tburn to vcd

OK i originally had an avi file. I changed it to MPEG1 and then used nero to burn it to vcd. It wont work always says something about buffering. It gets to 68 % and then justwont work. It says trying to resest and then eventually it just stops and says fialed. I have a iomega cd-rw 4x write. i Tried writing on 4x and 2x both ttimes wont work. And also tried converting the flile to svcd and then writing it as an scvd still wont work. Can someone help me please. I also tried other software to like cdrwin and making it into a bin file then copying it that way. Still didnt work. But now i cant even burn anything like mp3s or even copy an exe file. Can someone please help me thanks.
I have wasted over 20 cds on trying to copy movies. Tell me what i am doing wrong or do i need a new burner or what.

I think your burner is going bad. sounds like you are getting buffer underruns. When that just starts happening thats not a good sign.

hey you think i should get a new burner?? i didnt want to get a new just yet cause in a couple of months i want to get a whole new computer.. But what do you think of this burner?
