  1. Hi All -

I have a dmr-e60. I have been converting videos and am happy about the quality, but when I finalize them I am getting chapter breaks every 30-45 seconds. The manual specifies every 5 minutes. It is a little annoying having all the chapter breaks.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Thanks,

    E

  3. Fortunately not on my DMR-E80H, which does drop chapter points if the DVD-R high speed compatible mode is used.

I'm definitely not having that problem with my DMR-E50 -- the lack of responses would indicate that others aren't having such a problem, either. Two questions come to mind:

    1. What speed/quality are you recording with? XP/SP/etc...

    2. Would that not be a "new" machine you could still take back to your retailer as "defective?"

    Good luck!

I have the same recorder and I'm getting chapter breaks around every7-10 minutes. The only problem that I am having is that I have tried my dvd's in all my friends and familys DVD players and they only work in a select few. I'm using memorex media, probubly not the best. What media are you using? That is really wierd your getting those breaks.

  6. I also have the E50 and fortunetly the 30-45 secs chapter break pproblem is not on my machine. I often use Flexible or LP mode(s).

I use Prino DVD-Rs and have yet to come up with a coaster....intially I used Memorex and they would also play fine in my E50 and Panasonic RP82 but it other players it would either break half way through, not play at all or play perfectly.

  7. I am using the dmr-e60. So far I have used SP and XP mode. Both modes have done this. I will end up with 90 chapters in a 1 hour XP. So far I have only made videos from the DV in, which the 50 doesn't have - I am wondering if this has any effect???

I haven't had any problems with the finished videos. I have only played back on an Apex and another recent Panasonic though.

I bought it mail order over a month ago so return is not an option - I guess I have to contact Panasonic. Arggggg!

  8. must be something in the manual as they state:
    DV Input Terminal
The DV input terminal allows you to connect a compatible digital camcorder to the DVD recorder9 and transfer your home movies onto the hard disk or a DVD-RAM/DVD-R disc. To make it easier to navigate through the digital camcorder recordings that you transferred to the DVD recorder (hard disk or DVD-RAM/DVD-R disc), the DV Auto Record feature automatically generates a playlist for these transferred recordings by creating a new chapter for every instance of "stop" or "pause" used in the original recording.

---> Once the playlist has been created, you can easily change the order and duration of the chapters, create new ones, and delete the ones you don't want using the on-screen menu."

  9. Yee gads. I would have a billion chapters then, if every stop and pause created one. That's no way to live. So is there a way to combine the segments? On my 80H it specifically says that once you split a segment, it can't be joined again. That would suggest there's no recovery for this without editing the segments on a computer.

  10. I have an E30 and have found that the longer the recording time, the longer the chapters. SP-5 minutes, XP-2-3 minutes. Once recorded a 3 hour movie and the chapters were 12-13 minutes.

  11. I have just purchased an E 60 and so far i have encountered 2 probs , the first being the DV LINK with the firewire from my JVC DV CAM is not recognised , i have changed the lead and i am now beginning to suspect that my Mini DV cAM is not combatible with the E 60!!!! Please someone tell me that this is not correct.....

Unbrande DVD - R does not seem to be a good idea , plays fine on the E -60 but not on other units. TDK for about £2 each seemed to do the trick.

Has anybody out there got any recomendations as to a cheaper brand which will work well on other machines after being finalised on the E 60.

    Regards

  13. I have the E80 and I am new to this. I have copied one VHS to DVD-R, and it dropped 3 chapter breaks. Is there a problem with how many there are? When I play my DVD-R on any other player I do not see any visual problems at the chapter break positions.
