    I want to rip small sections of my DVD's to use in Movie making, I don't want to rip the whole movie. What software is best to do this task?

    Both DVDShrink (freeware) and TMPGEnc DVD Author (30 day trial) will allow you to cut out and save segments of a DVD. Chopper (freeware) will do the same, but it's a bit more work.
