    Hi!

My toshiba drive usually takes approximately 30-40 minutes to rip a whole DVD movie. Whole movie meaning file mode with all files selected. I just stumbled on this page which has a firmware which removes a built in limit. Here's the link:

    http://hijacker.rpc1.org/toshiba_nolimit/

I have searched the forums and only one user has mentioned using this firmware, in a reply to a post. This topic has'nt been posted before.

My question is has anyone else tried this firmware? I'm thinking there must be a good reason toshiba put the limit or not? Ripping at high speeds with let's say DVD Decryptor, would it affect ripping, might the files become corrupt?

Any feedback, suggestions or advice is welcome. Thanks in advance!

I have the Toshiba SD-M1612 RevB and usually get about 4x average when ripping with DVDDecrypter. I'm going to try new firware, I'll post the results later.

Been using the J808 firmware for a few days now and all seems well, ripping speeds have almost doubled. If it causes any problems you can always go back to the original firmware.

    Hi !

Sorry for replying so late, internet has been down for quite some time. Thank you very much for taking the time to test the firmware and post the results. I'm sure a lot of people will find it informative. I will give the firmware a test myself as well.

    Once again, thanks!
