    1) mux is short for multiplex: https://www.videohelp.com/glossary#Multiplex

    Demux: https://www.videohelp.com/glossary#Demultiplex

remux is the same as mutilplex

    2) You can use nero to put two vcd standard mpg's on one CD, just use the "creat VCD" option and drop and drag both mpg's into the play list.

    Yep.

Usually I tune out after I see the letters "DV." I know nothing about DV. Shark made a good recommendation, and I'll add you can even add a menu with Nero. Works great for a couple episode of cartoons one one CD.

You can use virtualdub to join files. I'm not at my computer though so I can't tell you how off the top of my head.

You need to either right click or double click on the file that you droped into the playlist and options will appear. The delay time between mpg's is one of them. Just set it to zero.
