  1. I've been reading a lot of posts about DV codecs and how the Microsoft codec isn't as good as the codecs provided by Canopus and Mainconcept for re-encoding.

All I am doing is transferring video footage (concert footage) from my miniDV camcorder with little to no editing and then encoding to MPG2 using CCE and authoring using DVD Lab. Will the Microsoft DV codec be sufficient in my case or would I benefit from using another codec?

    Thanks

  2. A DV codec is only used for playback. or when rendering transitions/fades etc. If your editing consists only of cuts and joins, then the MS DV codec should be OK.

Personally, I am happy with the MS DV codec for more complex transitions too, but some people may be more picky than me. If you are happy with your results, stick with it.
