  1. I have just puchased my first DVD burner a SONY 510a.
    DVD decrypter works fine.
When i use NERO to burn the backup, it writes to 100% and then just sits there idle for some time. I left it for an entire night and still it didn't complete. It says it is "synchronizing cache"...
The Burner works well with CDR..
My discs work fine on my friends computer using the decrypter/nero method, and i have also tried RECORDNOW DX and still burning coasters...
    All comments are welcome
    cheers[/b]

  4. Yes, by all means make sure you are using the latest version of Nero. But Record Now (which came with your burner) should work fine as well.

    1) Make sure you flash your burner to the latest firmware (2f right now).

    2) Make sure you are using quality disks (try with a name brand like TDK or Verbatim).

    3) In record now, select "Data disk" and drag over the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders to be copied. This should be all you have to do.

If you still can't burn a disk the odds are you have a bad drive -- if so, take it back to where you bought it and exchange it for another.

  7. Here's the link to the main Sony product download page (select your drive on the right and get the drivers):

  8. Making Progress..
    But....
I decrypt the DVD to hard drive... Create two folders AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS... Move the decrypted files into VIDEO_TS... As above use RecordNow to copy DATA to disc and move both folders... It now says it burns successfully, but when i put the disc back into the drive it shows nothing is on the disc, (i can physically see the burn on the disc)....

    What am I missing???

  9. When you put the disk back into the drive -- how are you looking at it?

You ought to be able to just power up PowerDVD and play that disk. What happens when you try PowerDVD to play the disk? What happens when you put that disk into a standalone player?

As long as the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS are root folders on the disk (and it was burned by Record Now as a data disk, which recognizes it needs to physically format the disk as a DVD) it ought to play in any player.

  10. Won't play on stand-alone, and wont play on powerDVD... Is there something wrong with my settings that i should change???
Also using decrypter which is preferred ISO or FILE???

I will try using some new discs..

  11. If you are backing up the entire disk (that is, it all fits on one DVD) then use Decrypter in File mode and select all -- make sure you select all.

If it doesn't fit on one DVD you have other problems -- then DVDShrink or DVDXcopy is your best bet. But cross that bridge when you come to it -- first try backing up a DVD that fits on one disk (you ought to get DVDShrink anyway just to use it as a test for this, though -- run it on your disk and if it shows red then you have something too big to fit on one).
