  1. Has anybody got these discs to burn at 4X with the Sony??? If so what firmware. I have tried both 2.0f and 1.0f and they both say 4x, but they really burn at 2x (Nero). If anybody has got these to burn at 4x please tell me how.

    Thanks

Jomo, can you stop whoring out for shop4tech? Allmediaoutlet has the 4x Ritek with logo for 165 and free shipping. Maybe you should start a new comparison thread. Errrr....wait. Shop4tech wouldn't win, I guess we won't see you post it.

  5. I just got this 25pack dvdpro 1x-4x at supermediastore.com for my sony dru-500a. I flashed my firmware from 1.0f to 2.0f first. It only burned at 2x using nero. I then searched and tried a tip on another forum of using the 1.0d firmware. I got the firmware from http://www.sonydru500a.com/
and flashed from 2.0f to 1.0d and it worked at 4x on the dvdpro. I have heard issues of writing errors or these disk burnt at 4x using 1.0d not being able to be read by other dvd roms . I can't confirm this. I just used dvddecryptor to burn a dvd5 copy of a movie to a dvdpro using 1.0d at 4x and it played fine on my sanyo dwm-370 dvd player. i also burned a data cd and unrared a couple of files to see if they are still good. They unrared successfully.
So I suggest trying the 1.0d firmware for your sony dru 500a to write at 4x on dvdpro 1x-4x media from supermediastore.com.
It seemed that this is my solution for this media with this drive for now hehe.
Please reply if this worked at all for you. Thanks
