  1. Hi!

I've just bought a new DVD writer(HP 300n) and I've got a question relating to TMPGenc.

Before my dvd days I used to encode my divx files as SVCD Pal in TMPGenc and was quite content with the result.

If I encode them as DVD Pal instead will it make any difference qualitywise after I've burnt it and play it on my standalone DVD?

Could it be that not all standalone DVd players will acceot this kind of disc?

I'd be grateful for an answer.

I did notice my video was much better in DVDs than in SVCDs. I really like the extra memory it gives me as well. As for which players will play your discs, you can always check the DVD Player database at left.

  3. Thanks for your answer.
When it comes to the setting in TMPGenc how high can you go when it c omes to "average video bitrate" and still make it playable on a standalone dvd player?

They mentioned that the average bitrate on an original DVD was somewhere between 4000-6000.
