I change a regular avi file to mpeg and it comes out with a green screen over it. AM i missing something here, lol. Please help me out if you can.

If its a green screen its usually a codec problem .... make sure you have all the upto date ones.

open the file with g-spot (available in the tools section to the left) and see if your avi file is an xvid. if so, install the xvid codec (also available in tools).

Yup, It's an XviD. try all of the above, and if they don't work (they should) try using the 4CC Changer
This is a workaround, but it works if all else fails.

I had the same problem and installed the ffdshow filter from the above site and it worked like a wet dream.
I also had the same problem while running WinME and all I had to do was rename the ffdshow.ax file to something else and it worked. Running WinXP requires the new ffdshow filter.
