    I have converted some Mpeg files to DivX using Virtualdub and this guide:

    Everything turns out fine expect that the first 10 seconds are completely pixelated and distorted. The rest of the clip is fine. I tried two files and it happened with both files and it was only the first 10 seconds.

    Anyone know why?

    Try a MPEG analyzer like BITRATE VIEWER
    or GSPOT on the file to see if the source is damaged
