  1. Check out what Rene replied about multiprocessors.

"About SMP support, DVD2one relies on the OS for it's threading etc. The os should take care of spreading the load across both processors.
(and somehow the OS-X is more efficient in doing this then the quad Xeon Win2k i tested it on)"

You DP Mac owners are so lucky...

Even on a single-processor Powerbook G4 667, I'm doing movie-only in 25 minutes, and full disk at 41 minutes. I'm extremely happy with that. It's much better running it on the G4 directly rather than in Virtual PC, where my crunches were coming in at real time, at best. Not only do I have a tiny app that I consider to be the most powerful thing on my computer (after the actual OS), but I no longer have to give over 7 gigs of precious hard disk space to an emulator! Back to the dusty bookshelf you go!

To me, these processing times (and the others reported in other topics) are the clearest evidence that Macs, even at current processor speeds, do work as fast or faster than PCs, because it handles the tasks at hand more efficiently. That guy who reported a crunch in 16 minutes on a dual processor Power Mac got my attention! I almost bought one of those! Damn!

Ooops that last line was me. Don't want to confuse anyone and think it was Rene.
