I believe the versatile VisualHub works wonders - it even opens and converts Humax .ts files (from the Fox T2 HD - pvr capacity after firmware upgrade). But I have never had an Apple computer of any variety - short of running an OS X image in VMWare - I need the equivalent of VisualHub for Windows (XP & Vista). Video Monkey and TransRedux/FilmRedux are also Apple OS X ...

About the closest I can think of is one of the all in one converters that use ffmpeg. Some here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/all-in-one-video-converters
I use Any Video Converter for most odd formats. But MediaCoder, Handbrake, XviD4PSP, AVIDemux. and some of the others may work for you. It depends on the format you need to convert from and to. Any program that promises universal conversion is usually lacking somewhere. I tend to use programs that are tailored to specific formats to get the best results.
