I remember messing with WME many years ago and it was complete crap. But like an idiot...I decided to try a new(er) version of Windows Media Encoder. First test encode...a simple uncompressed .AVI and what do I get?
    CRASH
    Send/Submit This Error To Microsoft?

I must be a complete friggin' idiot.

Only trouble I've encountered with it is when you feed it a MPEG, it slows to a crawl if you try to make any changes. DV-AVI on the other hand is not a problem.

  3. I've been using WME 9 (and programming it) all week and haven't had a single crash.

I've fed it live DV, DV AVIs and MPGs.

Do your AVIs play in Media Player (or other media players)?

Sometimes the user interface goes non-responsive while it works. Just let it finish.

I found it to be remarkably slow, but the output quality was excellent.

That's usually the case when encoding to any highly compressed format, the more its compressed the longer it takes.
