  4. buddyboy, you need to enter the world of the gigahertz [GHz] processor to get the fantastic results that this card can offer including 720 x 480 NTSC capture.

I have this card and quite pleased with same but run it on a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP motherboard with an AMD 2400+ processor and 512MB DDR RAM.

do the upgrade or test in a 'stronger' machine and you'll see.

  5. You need to capture using avi w/huffey codec. Your computer isn't powerful enough to capture mpeg sucesfully. Also set your PVR on channel 3 or 4 and use your VCR as the tuner, much cleaner results.

Well,I have a similar spec Celeron 900 to a 2nd capture 40Gb ATA 100 7200rpm HDD & equipped with a PCTV pro (Windows 98 1st Ed), & managed several VHS to VCD conversions successfully with these "lowly specs"!! It just requires a little more patience & time.

As harrymj3 mentioned, I can capture to 640x480 25fps PAL using Huffy AVI to the capture drive & soft-encode to VCD mpeg 1 352x288 using VirtualDub frameserving to TMPGenc. Look for a program called "End it All" which'll kill any unnecessary background tasks,(disable AntiVirus s/w etc. too), & any preview type windows can all help gain speed.

In my case though having the VCR/TV next to the PC means I can work out when I need to stop/start VirtualDub or AVI_IO capturing at the right times. (hence switching off overlay/preview modes)
