    I'm thinking of buying me a dell computer but i'm wondering who makes their DVD +R/RW and can i apply the DVD bitsetting on it ???

    Open the computer case on look the sticker on it.. but I would bet on a Toshiba.

    Thank's for the reply, but i can't open the computer case since i haven't bought it yet. My biggest concern is that i can't apply the DVD bitsetting to it to make it beleive it's a DVD-ROM. Until i know this i will wait to buy it.

    I have a DELL 8250. It has a NEC DVD +R/RW burner....
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

    I also have the Dell Dimension 8250. The DVD +R/RW is a NEC1100A DVD burner.

    OEMs will buy from ANY vendor as long as the spec is the same as what they need. You can never tell so don't bother.

    As Forrest Gump said"you never know what you're gonna get"until you get the PC out of the box.Dell catalogs never specify who makes their drives(Gateway also).

    Dell ships a NEC DVD+R/RW or a Philips which is actually a Ricoh MP5125A.

    ...i have a new (4Q02) dell 4550, and the cd r/w slash dvdr/w is a nec1100a...
