First off, I have scoured this website and haven't found anything. Too much good info here!

Anyways, I have a 6 channel ac3 audio file. What I want to do is separate those into discrete audio files. One file for left and right channels, one file for rear left and right channels, one file for the center channel and one file for the subwoofer channel. I would like to load those into my multi-track audio editer and make my own 2 channel mix before I output it as a single stereo file. I have already figured out how to convert ac3 to wave.

    thanks!

    Tranzcode

    http://tranzcode.byethost22.com/files/Tranzcode_v0.40(beta).rar

    Rename your file to audio.ac3

    Code:
    tranzcode audio.ac3 /16
    = 16bit audio 48000hz

1 mono file for each track = 6 wav output files

I tried that, but the command line encoder just confused me. I'm good with my computer, but I don't know anything pre-windows.

I finally figured out how to do it in headac3he. I have to do it channel by channel, but at least I can do it.

besweet is another alternative to get six wavs out of a 5.1 file. Might be easier might not - but it works well once you figure out its interface

I checked out besweet also, but as easy as that was supposed to be, it looked confusing, so I said forget it.

    thanks for all the input!

    No problemo. Here you go:

    1) Download tcode.cmd file below (right click to save)

    2) Place in same folder as Tranzcode.exe and your AC3 file

    3) Make sure you've renamed your ac3 to AUDIO.AC3

    4) Doubleclick on Tcode.cmd and you'll soon have 6 Wavs on your drive Takes around 15 minutes

    tcode.cmd

I've used BeLight to create 6 separate wav from AC3.
Very simple gui, a handful of frequently-used presets, and quite fast.

I notice nobody talks much about BeLight.
    Why is that?

I like it , but am not an audiophile and can't tell if quality is substandard compared to other applications output.

Belight is awesome, and the author is a good guy. The problem is the Besweet command line app that Belight invokes isn't actively developed the way it used to be. Oh, and there's some bugs when in Belight when it comes to batch processing lists of files.
