PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!I have a HUUUUGE problem with my LG RC 7300 DVDR.I've been having many problems with it lately. I try to finalize DVD-RWs and the DVD recorder cannot do it!Sometimes the process goes all the way to 0 time left but then it just stays like that(I have to unplug the DVDR cause nothing else works). The worst part is that sometimes it does finalize Dvds but as soon as you press "OK"(when it says "Finalizing completed successfully"),the dvd recorder doesn't recognize the dvd anymore and it doesn't accept it(Unknown disc).
I can, however, play these dvds on computer.BUT I need tobe able to play them on my DVD,too! When I put a DVD -RW in the dvd recorder,it makes a noise every 2 or 3 seconds(even with the dvds that it finalizes successfully). The lazer has been changed a couple of times(although the Recorder was new when I first started having this kind of problems).Sometimes it finalizes successfully DVD -RWs,sometimes it doesn't.I have been going back and forth to the service unit and they can't find anything wrong with the DvdR.It used to work with DVD -RWs fine, but now I am afraid to finalize any dvds because then my dvd player will no longer recognize them.

    Please,please,please help me!

WHY ARE YOU YELLING? Seriously though, you will get much more constructive answers if you calm down and stop shouting. It's not like your house is on fire. we are talking about DVDs here.

Sounds like your recorder is malfunctioning. Also, bad media can freeze the machine. Try a different brand- preferably TY.

Also, I don't use DVDRW, but I've never heard of rewritable media that can be finalized. You also didn't mention if your DVD player played blanks before. Some players don't. Others are picky about what they read and need the disc to burned a certain way. Maybe the laser on your player needs to be cleaned.

I really have no idea. If it were me I would take it to a different shop. Or, if it's one of those cheapie 200-300 ones just replace it. You are obviously very distraught over it. Maybe it's not worth the hassle and aggravation it's causing you.

I may have lost material that cost a lot:time, money, effort, material that I may never find again(it's not some movie I can buy anytime I want)-so,yes I AM a little desperate..

"Sounds like your recorder is malfunctioning"

Yes,I know that, but I do not know how to save the material that I have already recorded and couldn't finalize properly.Maybe because some of the material has been recorded by the previous laser.

"Maybe the laser on your player needs to be cleaned"

The laser has been changed. The problem, however, doesn't change.I have many dvds that can only be played by computers. That is,regular stand alone dvd players aren't powerful enough to read them. What should I do?Buying another dvd recorder will not solve my problems.

You should be able to get back your unfinalized dvd's, using software like ISOBUSTER on your PC, or using other data recovery softwares. That is assuming that you can get your pc to recognize that a disk is present.

But what do I do with the dvds that have been finalized but dvd players do not recognize(only computers)

  6. Since your computer recognizes the discs, I would think there may be a chance that you could copy the files onto your PC and (perhaps reauthor?) and burn from there.

My fingers are crossed for you!
I certainly understand what it's like to lose special things.

Can you try those DVDs on other players? (friends/neighbors players?)

Could you list step by step the process you used to copy to your PC and reburn and what did you reburn with? (what software, burn speed and what kind of DVDr?)

And just as a matter of idle curiosity, can DVD Shrink open the copied files?

I believe that you may have problem with your DVD-RW discs.
They may be needed to be FULLY erased, to restore their condition.
If you have NERO burning room on your PC, try to go to Recorder>Erase Rewritable Disc>Full Erase.
Now when fully erased, put them in your LG DVD recorder and check if you have problems with recording/reading.

Regarding those problematic and previously recorded DVD-RW discs, you have to transfer DVD video or .VRO, whichever format you used, to your PC. If you have troubles, you should use Isobuster, as already suggested.
After that, you have to use one of those special MPEG softwares like MPEG Video Wizard or VideoReDo to save your video as new MPEG2.
After that reauthor with any DVD authoring program and your DVD's will play in any DVD player.

I do not know, an LG technician did that.

I'm not trying to save the discs, but the material. And I can't do that by erasing them.

I understood what were you trying.
But since I use LG DVD recorder and DVD-RW discs, I just gave you an advice for your future recordings.

My LG is an older model (2.5 years old now), so I'm familiar with that problem with -RW discs.
If I record on fully erased discs I have no problems. I use Sony and Princo DVD-RW's.

:( Oh God!This is getting worse! Now I can't even play the dvds on computers! They just can't read them any more!Every time I try to watch a dvd, I get this message that the last time this disc was played, the process was interrupted-and it has 2 choices-playing the dvd from the beginning or continuing from the last scene. But no matter what I choose, nothing works.

Any idea what has happened? What can I do??

Are you using fresh DVD/RWs or simply reusing them many times. Also can you successfully record and finalize a non rw disk such as -r or +r? I find that most of the time for whaever the reason everytime I have problems with a recording, it can be traced to a faulty wr disk. That's of course assuming that the recorder is in good working order.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
