no, there's nothing that I think I could live with on my body forever... inkwise.
-
I don't have any tattoos.
Nor do I have anything against tattoos or the people who have them.
My girlfriend has 2 of them, my cousin has 1, my sister has a shitload, many co-workers have several.
along the lines of shelby, if I ever found something that I really wanted to have on my body forever, I guess I might get it tattooed. In fact, for about a year I've been considering getting my sig pic from this board tatooed."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

Don't have one, never will. I've never seen anyone who's looks were improved by adding a tattoo. (Including my son, who has a couple). I'm a bigger fan of body paint, which can be used to create some stunning and dramatic effects, but can be changed or removed as desired.

Reminds me of a joke ...
A West Indian and an Englishman are side by side at a urinal, and the englishman just can't resist taking a peek at the West Indian's pecker to see if the innuendo is true. Naturally the West Indian is similarly curious but in the opposite way. They check each other's equipment out and both are satisfied that the rumours are true.
The West Indian notices some writing in the form of a tattoo along the englishman's pecker. Without staring he can just make out the word "Mandy".
"eh mon ..... mandy your special lady, eh ?" says the West Indian. The englishman nods the affirmative. An uncomfortable silence follows, at which point the englishman takes another look over and notices the word "Wendy" along the West Indian's pecker.
"is wendy your girlfriend then ?" the englishman enquires.
"No man ...... mine says 'Welcome to the West Indies, have a nice day" ....If in doubt, Google it. -
Nope, none myself. Other than like an American flag, I can't pick anything that I would want to see or wear every day for the rest of my life. And my "Guns" or arms ain't quite proud enough to do a tattoo justice.
My brother is one of the few people that I know that has what I would call quality art on him, good colors and overall style. Almost like a Japanesse water color or airbrush painting, subtle shading and fades and such. I don't much care for the coloring book look. You know, a black outline and then colored in. Although some designs lend themselves to this style. One color Tribal designs look good on the natives, but not to good on the pale white kids that seem to think that they are all the rage.
OK stop here. Before Anyone gets offended, this is just my opinion. I do, and have seen some good ink. What I think of your ink should not matter. If you like it fine. But after the initial shock of your ink I will most likely judge you on other merits. If you don't pass muster in other areas, then the ink is only going to make me think less of you. But then again you really shouldn't be too worried about what I think of you.
There are very few situations, for me anyways, that a tattoo is a boost to ones charactor. Special military tats are the best example of this for me. If a dude or a group gets inked to show a bond that was forged under fire or in service, I have the deepest respect for them. I don't know why exactly. I just can't help it. Esprit de corps I guess. Putting you life in others hands and theirs in yours is a twisted concept and may have to be lived to fully undrestand, but that's the way it is.
True tribal tattoos on tribe members are another example of what I think are good tattoos. I got alot more respect for the free native walking around in the jungle wearing nothing but a tattoo than some gang banger in any city anywhere.
Tattoos on women? Oh oh, here it comes. Yes, I am a male chauvenist pig! Tattoos plus women equals trash. There I said it. No tattoo is ever going to make a pretty or ugly gal look any better. I think that ink on a woman makes their skin look inanimate. Hearts, flowers and Tweety Bird do not make women look sexy. "Property of the Outlaws" across their backside is not what I want to see when the moment arises. Just give me pure skin, and freckles are fine.
Well, sorry, I hope I didn't ruin a fun thread with a highly opinionated reply. I think that I have said most of this before. And while it doesn't really matter to me what you do to express yourself I am a tough one to impress with a tattoo. I mean no disrespect to the folks that are really good at tattoo work either, I do understand that it is a talent to do good work.

Climb down dude 8)
But back to the OT....
Yep, got a nice ass Egyptian Sarcophagus face or Egyptian Death Mask tattooed on my left bicept......
But with a more evil looking expression on it's face......
Almost completely in yellow/gold, & looks blood red under black light
But as far as people worrying about how having a tattoo looks to other people
There are sooooo many people that don't even know i have it even though it's pretty large, because wearing a short sleeved t-shirt, no one can see it!! only if i'm bareback!!
One of my oldest and best friends has a dragon tattoo that one of the top artist's in the country did for him like 10 years ago, that the mass of the dragons body covers his entire back and the head comes up over his shoulder and onto his chest and the tail circles his left calf, there are alot of people that still dont know he has it
Jeans and a normal t-shirt covers it all, and prob. close to half of his body is covered by this dragon!! and meeting him you would never even think he had a tatto at all....
It all depends on where you choose to have them and IF you want them to show!!
Myself, like my buddie Dave, we have them for our own personal pref. not to show them off to everyone in the world that walks by and say hey, look were cool cause we got these bad ass tatts 8)
I went out with this one chick that saw me naked on a daily basis and it was a month before she even saw & realised i had it
We were under under a bunch of black lights and she was like, WTH is that ??and i was like your kidding right ?? how did you miss that!?!?!?!

If anyone finds my joke (yes people, joke as in parody, fiction for the purposes of entertainment, and not a real life factual event) offensive then feel free to report it.

Chill, guys!
Tattoos. I don't wish to scar myself permanently, because I'll probably feel differently in a few years. However, some people like tattoos and some that I see are very beautiful. Personal choice, really. I don't have anything against people with tattoos. -
whenever the Tatoo subject gets raised I always think of the Jack Dee comment:
"If people who have a tattoo later want it removed, they shouldn't be able to have it done on the National Health. What the National Health should offer is a crossing out service."Cole -

I've even thought that mothers who take their baby daughters in to have their ears pierced should be brought up on charges of child abuse (involuntary mutilation).
P.S. Usually, when someone comes down on mothers taking daughters in for ear-piercing, someone always says, "Hey, what about parents who have their infant sons circumcised?" At one time, circumcision was honestly felt to be beneficial by the medical community. Only recently (the last 15-20 years) has there been a reversal of opinion. But, there are still some medical professionals who believe circumcisions have viable benefits.
I'd sure like to hear the "medical benefits" to ear-piercing. -
No, unlike every other "individual" I know nowadays, who all seem to have some meaninless celtic symbol etched into their skin like some retarded sign of uniqueness. Obviously this doesn't apply to "survivors".
