Microsoft Dares Security Experts to Find Holes in Windows Vista

LAS VEGAS — After suffering embarrassing security exploits over the past several years, Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) is trying a new tactic: inviting some of the world's best-known computer experts to try to poke holes in Vista, the next generation of its Windows operating system.

Yeah, I guess in your opinion game corporations should never again offer public or closed beta testing. They should just rely on their own eyes and ears to pick up any bugs.

That better be an awfully big barrel and very small fish. Remember Microsoft Operating System AKA Maximum Bloatware, tons of code, lotsa potential security risks.

not exactly closed or beta testing is it now ROF,more like a possible test/experiment in future damage limitation.
and anyway,whats gaming corps got to do with security holes,etc on microsofts OS---or did i just read wrong and actually its all about finding a bug in the latest game where the character cant jump without the game crashing...

When being selected as a beta tester part of your job is test the security and integrity of the multiplayer client. What do gaming corps have to do with security hole? You have obviously never been part of a game beta test or only did so to see something cool that only a few select eyes got to view. If you did not test or report any security or memory leaks in the game you are not really a good beta tester.
