So please explain what exactly makes it different and better.
-
the end of the cd tray is different---no plastic tabs glued to it, just feels more sturdy and i have yet to encounter an eror, which was commonplace with the standard tray....
-
I emailed Epson that my original R300 tray (with the plastic tabs) was failing more and more, and they quickly messengered me a free replacement tray that's like the one you describe, and it works much better. I think it just might be their new tray model for the whole R series.

I use the Epson Print CD program with hub printables. Here's how:
-
Although recently I've been having a lot of fun playing around with the Canon Pixma CD tray mod.
-
Well that is obvious. I feel a little stupid now. Thanks for the heads up.
-
Are there any differences between the R200 and R220 other than the improved tray?
-
i called epson, the print quality, catridges...are the same---it is all cosmetic, except for a much better tray. i too called in for a replacement tray, it was identical to the original. the tray i aquired from the R220 is different--do i need to upload a pic???
-
This is what's different to mine:
All the holes are smaller, and the 2 knobs on top aren't present, instead I have the shitty plastic strip.
(I have the R210 - though, this shouldn't make a difference surely). -

My new tray, pictured above, works fine in my R300, which is essentially the same as the R200.

Same with me. They basically cut and pasted the loading instructions from the manual.
Do you have to threaten legal action or something? -
No, no threats or anything. I just filled out the web-based form on the link above, saying it wasn't working right and could they please send me a replacement tray. Then they emailed me asking for my serial number and date of purchase. I provided them and within days Purolator shows up with my new tray. Quite decent of them, actually.

i probably shouldn't say this, but, i bought an R220 at Target, took the tray, and put my R200 tray in the box and returned it---haven't had a problem since.......i do not feel bad as i originally bought the printer from Target, and Epson sent me two POS new trays that had the same problem....
-
Well my ink is getting low in my R200. Guess it's time for a new printer!
I don't buy their overpriced POS ink cartridges that have .1ml ink for $79 when I can get a new printer cheaper. I get a new printer everytime. I have an Okidata LED printer for backup, just in case I don't find a good deal on a new inkjet before my ink runs out.
Wasteful? Yes. But if more people shoved the printers in the trash and didn't buy the high-priced ink, manufacturers would learn. -
Do you at least pawn or sell your old printers to computer second hand shops?

You can also order these trays from http://www.nationalparts.com/extranet/index.asp?PAGE=proc_sr_mpart.asp
Part number 1274077 for $11.00. Order a few because you get nailed on shipping.
I also got Epson to say they will send me a tray since my printer is still under warranty. After they told me that most people that wear out these trays print quite a number of CD/DVD per day under heavy use.
I've printed about 60 in 6 months.I am going to explain to them that my HP photosmart printer is exptected to print a lot more that 60 photos before it wears out.

I went to order these trays and it says for R200 R300. How do I know it is not the old tray?
-
Just got done talking with a representive from the "Epson Store" and she refered me to Compass Micro, Inc at 1-800-388-8595, and I found their site on the web. This link applies to the Epson R200, but it is the new tray that they are selling for $11.00 tho, they also dock you $5.00 for any order under $50. and the shipping is also a little high, but I thought I would post it for Informational purposes only. Here is the link:
