So I'm editing a video and everything goes fine until the screen in which I play back clips and my time line goes completely black. I can still hear the audio though, but I cannot see anything. Does anyone know a solution for this? Thanks!
I tried exporting the video but it's all black still. The audio can be heard though.

This could be a codec issue, a video card issue, or something else. But you provide such little info about your source video file that one can only guess. Please go to the Tools section of this website and download a nice free utility called GSpot. Open a clip from your raw, unedited video in it and give us a screenshot of it. We need to see what we are dealing with.
And don't simply tell us it is an AVI file. There are many types of AVI videos and we need to see specifics.
Also, don't repeat the same question across different forum headings. Cross-posting is a no-no.
