usingffmpeg Is possible convert .mpg to wmv9?

Hi,
I'm using ffmpeg in Ubuntu 7.04.
I need to convert a mpeg file to vcodec wmv9 and acodec wmav9.
Is this possible?
I already tried to use several codecs for the output but it didn't work.
I'm having troubles understanding the difference between vc-1 and wmv9 and what should I use in my command line...

ffmpeg can encode up to wmv2,
use a microsoft product for encoding ability

or just don't, which is my opinion

And there is any software I can use in linux, from the command line, that can encode wmv9?
