  1. Hi there,

I am looking for nearly ages for a conversion tool, converting AVI (H264) into WMV (WMV9 or WMV9.1 or WMV9.2). SUPER doesnt work as it runs over hours saying it's "parsing" (stopped after five hours parsing of a 30 min testfile). Total Video Converter (OJO) doesn't provide WMV9, just 8 or 7. Windows Encoder doesn't run on Windows 7 and Expression just provides VC-1. Freemake Converter provides just VC-1, too. And on and on ...

Can anyone help me? The stupid old tv-streaming box just reads WMV9.
    Any hind is highly welcome!

  3. Thanks for the hint but this programm isn't installing. It stops with the message: Cannot continue. This program requires HDTV Dump Filter Version 1.2 or later.
There are some files of this kind contained in the install package with WMVMultiplexer but I don't know how to handle them and I didn't find any hint in the web and just older versions 1.0.0 or 1.0.1.

Windows Media Encoder is only povided for Windows XP, not Windows 7.

So I am afraid to have to look further. Thanks nevertheless.

Extract the Filters folders and run the register-hdtvdump.bat. But I have not tried wmvmuxer in windows 7 though.

Or try Microsoft Expression Encoder 4

On a Win7 64 bit computer I just downloaded it from the link here on Videohelp, installed it, and converted an AVI to WMV. You can also try Windows Live Movie Maker. All Microsoft video apps are crap though.

  6. I run this batchfile. It produced an error message 0x80070005. So I run as admin and it produced the error message to check if the file is at the proper place. I checked and tried several folders (e.g. windows/system32) but wihtout success.

Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 I tried in this free version but this programm can only output the latest VC-1 not WMV9.

So it seems there's no alternitive to bying a new streambox.

For as so far thanks a lot.

The bat file runs fine in my windows 7...

But did you try http://download3.videohelp.com/WMEncoder.exe ? It works fine on my windows 7.

    Or Windows Live MovieMaker.

  10. Wow, thanks a lot. I didn't think there was a W7 version of Windows Media Encoder because I couldn't find any hint of it even at the microsoft pages themselves.

But this linked WMEncoder9 does run on W7 and it runs great right now!
That's just I need and long, long searched for.

(Bth: Windows Movie Maker uses the newes decoder VC-1 and doesn't allow to change to one of the older versions.)

    Thank you!

  11. You're right Windows Live Movie Maker doesn't seem to allow you to select a the older codecs anymore.
