For the last few days I've been going nuts trying to figure out why I can't get this cue sheet to work properly (with Kodi) when I've created them many times before. It's a custom compilation of DTS tracks from the McCartney DVD's Band on the Run, Venus and Mars and the McCartney Years. It's ALMOST is correct, except that the album title shows up as "SINGLES" and after track 1, the next is also numbered track 1 which is file itself (Paul McCartney & Wings (DTS 5.1 Mix) before continuing to track 2 and so on. The only issue I can think of is the tacks from Band on the Run /Venus & Mars are dts 1510 kb/s 96/24 while the rest are dts 755 kb/s 48/24. I combined them into one single track and included snapshots to better show what I'm trying to explain. Thanks, help is greatly appreciated.

  2. I've no idea if it's a problem because I'm quite cue-less, but I just asked foobar2000 to convert an album's worth of tracks to a single file and the cue sheet it created looks like this. The "Performer" info isn't repeated, but for all I know it doesn't matter.....

    Code:
    PERFORMER "B-52's, The"
    TITLE "Cosmic Thing"
    FILE "B-52's, The - Cosmic Thing.mp3" WAVE
      TRACK 01 AUDIO
        TITLE "Bushfire"
        INDEX 01 00:00:00
      TRACK 02 AUDIO
        TITLE "Channel Z"
        INDEX 01 04:57:13
      TRACK 03 AUDIO
        TITLE "Cosmic Thing"
        INDEX 01 09:46:13
      TRACK 04 AUDIO
        TITLE "Deadbeat Club"
        INDEX 01 13:37:25
      TRACK 05 AUDIO
        TITLE "Dry County"
        INDEX 01 18:22:37
      TRACK 06 AUDIO
        TITLE "Follow Your Bliss"

      TRACK 07 AUDIO
        TITLE "June Bug"

      TRACK 08 AUDIO

      TRACK 09 AUDIO
        TITLE "Roam"

  3. I made a fake file and tried loading your cue sheet. Foobar2000 wasn't interested while the Comment field was multi-line. Once I changed it to a single line the cue sheet appeared to load okay. I've no idea if multi-line lines are allowed.

    Code:
    REM GENRE Multichannel
    REM DATE 1971
REM COMMENT "DTS audio from Band on the Run, Venus and Mars & The McCartney Years DVD/DTS-CD. Tracks on the 2025 Wings compilation are omitted."
    PERFORMER "Paul McCartney & Wings"
TITLE "McCartney & Wings (DTS 5.1 Mix)"
FILE "McCartney & Wings (DTS 5.1 Mix).wav" WAVE

Amazing dude, it works. I've been messing with this for 2 days and don't get it because I have close to 10 cue sheets formatted exactly like this one and they all work as they should. Now I just have to find a way to get the GENRE in there. Thank you so much!

To figure out what was causing it not to work, each line not included in your example was added one by one...

    REM GENRE Multichannel: worked

    REM DATE 1971: worked

REM COMMENT "DTS audio from Band on the Run,
Venus and Mars & The McCartney Years DVD/DTS-CD.
Tracks on the 2025 Wings compilation are omitted":

Screwed it up again. Something in the REM COMMENT section was causing it to mess up.

  5. Can you have more than one comment in a cue sheet? I don't know and I haven't tried it myself, but maybe try something like:

REM COMMENT "DTS audio from Band on the Run,"
REM COMMENT "Venus and Mars & The McCartney Years DVD/DTS-CD."
REM COMMENT "Tracks on the 2025 Wings compilation are omitted."

    Just a guess...

Multi line Comments field was definitely the issue...
Wondering though, is it possible to have more than one Genre?
... and the answer is no, at least none I can get working.

  7. I'm starting to understand a little more about cue sheets now. From what I've read, the original cue sheet specification is fairly limited so REM is used to add extra info as a comment, and some programs support certain information while some actually create non conforming cue sheets they'll happily read themselves.
I noticed while I was playing around yesterday that foobar2000 will add ReplayGain info to cue sheets if a file already contains it, adding the information to each track as a comment. It looked something like this if I remember correctly.

    Code:
    PERFORMER "B-52's, The"
    TITLE "Cosmic Thing"
    FILE "B-52's, The - Cosmic Thing.mp3" WAVE
      TRACK 01 AUDIO
        TITLE "Bushfire"
        REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN <value>
        REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_PEAK <value>
        REM REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN <value>
        REM REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_PEAK <value>
        INDEX 01 00:00:00
      TRACK 02 AUDIO
        TITLE "Channel Z"
        REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN <value>
        REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_PEAK <value>
        REM REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN <value>
        REM REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_PEAK <value>
        INDEX 01 04:57:13
      TRACK 03 AUDIO
        TITLE "Cosmic Thing"
        REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN <value>
        REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_PEAK <value>
        REM REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN <value>
        REM REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_PEAK <value>
        INDEX 01 09:46:13
    So you could possibly add
    REM GENRE <value>
to each track if they're different.
I assume a program may or may not support reading it correctly, but you can only try.

I couldn't find any reference to adding multiple values to any type of field though. I would've started out trying something like:
    REM GENRE "Pop","Rock"
    or maybe
    REM GENRE Pop;Rock

Although I did read that some programs will ignore anything following a semi-colon in a cue sheet as a comment.
    ; Just commenting
and apparently there's one program that ignores the following as a comment.
    // Just commenting

Does the program you're using have any info explaining what it's supposed to support?

The program I'm using is Kodi. I'd simply just like to have two Genres for this one specific compilation (Multichannel & Rock) but there seems no way to make it work. Not a big deal as I'm just glad it's finally working as it should.
