  1. Im following a guide for vdub and it says that I need to select yuy2 as the colourspace of my input file but vdub2 doesnt have a colour depth option within the video tab. it does have a decompression format option though. Should I select yuy2 here?

  2. If the source colorspace is YUV420 (YV12) you shouldn't need to convert it, although your screenshot indicates the source is YUV422, which is the planar version of YUY2. It should be safe to just select YUY2 as the compression format (click Configure).

Edit: After a quick test the simplest way to do it seems to be to select Fast Re-compress from the video menu (it means VirtualDub won't do anyconverting, but it doesn't need to as the source is already YUV422), and select Auto Detect under "Video/Decode Format". Select YUY2 as the compression format for Lagarith. The "Pixel Format" button should be greyed out when Fast Re-compress is selected.

The output might be YV16 (YUV422), but you can convert between YUY2 and YV16 losslessly as they're the same thing aside from the way the pixels are stored in memory, so it doesn't matter.
