Would anyone know of any free (unlimited) online audio silence remover tools designed to detect and eliminate unwanted silences in audio recordings?

If you can accept offline (i.e. local on your computer) tool then ffmpeg ( https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-filters.html#silenceremove ) can do this for you.

foobar2000 has a free offline silence remover. You don't have to edit the audio to remove silence on playback if you'd prefer to remove it on the fly. The "skip silence" DSP can be added to the playback chain, or it can be added to the conversion chain so you can convert and remove silence in one step. It doesn't have a lot of options but it does the job.
