    I want to compress a audio from bluray and i don't know the quality setting for 7.1 channels. what bitrate is the most used for this type of audio?

    480kbit for AAC-LC is a good place to start.

  3. For AAC you can use variable bitrate encoding and select a quality instead, so it works much like selecting a CRF value for x264 rather than a bitrate. What's your desired output format, because obviously the type of encoder used will make a difference. Without knowing that it's a bit like asking what bitrate to use to compress video without knowing the encoder type.

    but the bottom line is for 7.1ch AAC encoding, you probably should use QAAC.
