Using Subtitle Edit I'm repairing a subtitle file with all capital letters. Now I have two questions:
First is there a way to make text in brackets all capitals again, since that's typical:
converted to:[Horn honking]
My second question is should the speaker be all caps as well? Subtitle edit's caps repair doesn't do this:[HORN HONKING]
OSCAR: You'd be surprised
how many of us there are.

In Subtitle Edit: select the lines you care about (or Ctrl+A), then right-click → Change casing. For bracketed sound effects only, use a targeted pass rather than uppercasing the whole file: Edit → Multiple replace (or Regular Expression) with a pattern that matches text inside [] or () and replaces with uppercase of that capture, so dialogue stays sentence case. Speaker labels (ALL CAPS before a colon) are a style choice — many broadcast/SDH guides keep speaker IDs in caps and put effects in caps inside brackets; pick one convention and run Multiple replace so NAME: stays as-is while [door slam] becomes [DOOR SLAM]. Always keep a backup .srt before a global casing pass.
